Most companies have a toll free number that you can use when you need assistance with a product or if you have a complaint or a compliment you would like to share. Though these numbers are still around, many people find that they don’t even need to use them anymore. Though this is the case for some people, if you have a business, you have to keep everyone in mind. This means you still need to have a toll free line when you want your customers to reach you.

Hearing Aid Compatibility for Cell Phones, Part 2

This is the second of a two-part series that we’ll post on Hearing Aid Compatibility for cell phones/ wireless Telephones. We begin with discussion, including a short video, of “inductive coupling.”

For Inductive Coupling
Each handset manufacturer must offer to service providers at least two T3-rated handset models per digital air interface. In addition, manufacturers must ensure that 20 percent of their handset models per air interface meet at least a T3 rating beginning February 15, 2009, 25 percent beginning February 15, 2010, and one third beginning February 15, 2011. If these percentages work out to a fraction, the manufacturer may round the result down; however, any manufacturer offering four or more handset models over a digital air interface must offer at least two that meet a T3 or higher rating.

Analog-to-Digital Transition for Wireless Telephone Service

The Analog Cellular Sunset and Who Is Affected
As of midnight on February 18, 2008, cellular telephone companies will not be required to provide analog service. While most wireless telephone users will not be affected by this transition (often called the “analog cellular sunset”), some users may be affected. In addition, the transition could affect some alarm systems and some users of OnStar in-vehicle communications service.

You will not be affected by the transition if you:

- use a digital handset; or

- subscribe to wireless service from Sprint/Nextel or T-Mobile.
