Jim Johnson asked:

Advances are constantly being made in the field of cell phone technology, which means that there are always newer cell phone models coming out on the market with more and more advanced features. So here are some tips on how to choose the cell phone that will best fit your needs.
1. The first thing to do is to choose the cell phone provider first, then get the cell phone. After all, the cell phone will only be as good as the network it is connected to. In order to make the best decision about which cell phone provider will work best in your area, you can conduct your own informal survey of family and friends to find out what experiences they are having with various cell phone providers. Then choose the one that seems to have the best local record.
2. Now that you have your cell phone provider in mind, it’s a good idea to actually visit their store and physically inspect all of the phones that they have available. This is important because just seeing a picture of a cell phone will not tell you much about how it actually works. But if you have a chance to actually hold each cell phone in your hand and see how easy it is to use, you can quickly narrow down your choices to those that will seem to work best for you and the way you use your cell phone.
3. One of the most important features of the cell phone is the display, and so you need to make sure that any cell phone you buy has a display that is easily readable in both dimly lit and bright lighting conditions. Again, this is usually best determined by physically examining it in the cell phone store.
4. You’ll find that there is a wide range and diversity of features from one cell phone to another, so look for the features that are most important to you and will be most often used, such as a speakerphone for hands-free use.
5. In order to save money and get the best cell phone deal, be sure to ask about any special promotions or offers that are being run by the cell phone companies at this time. Sometimes you won’t know about these specials if you don’t specifically ask for them, but they can often save you lots of money when you buy your cell phone. Quite often, cell phone providers will run specials online that may not be available off line, so be sure that you look for internet specials whenever you shop too.
6. Be sure that you understand all return policies regarding any phone that you are considering just in case you may need to return it, as some consumers have been hit with hefty restocking and cancellation fees when they decided to return their phone. So just be sure that you are fully aware of the cell phone provider’s return policy on that particular phone before you buy it.
If you use these tips and suggestions when shopping for a cell phone, you should be able to find the one that will fit you best and save money at the same time.

Cell Phone Shopping Discount Opportunities

Cathy Peterson asked:

There are cell phone shopping discount opportunities available to consumers who are simply willing to take the time to find them. Through careful research on the many types of cell phones available for purchase, a customer can save quite a lot of money on not buying plans that will not meet their needs.

The lure of a particular phone model might confuse people into getting a cell phone rate plan that is out of price for their budget needs, and will give them features that they will very rarely use. These cell phone shopping discount opportunities are shaded by clever advertising, and not centered on the benefit the discount offers to the customer.

Some cell phone shopping discount opportunities can be found in pay cell phone plans. When people purchase a cell phone that minutes can be installed in minute increments, this budget plan might provide the best cell phone shopping discount opportunities that a person can afford at some point in their life. Having a cell phone that is within their budget, that they can conveniently use as much as they like is a benefit that some customers find very attractive.

Prepaid cell phone shopping discount opportunities can also be found in the discount codes that come with new, paid cell phone purchases. These discount codes can be used several times apiece, to double and triple minutes with every cell phone minute card plan that is purchased. These discount codes will also give paid cell phone users cell phone shopping discount opportunities in discounts on their yearly service activation plans. These discounts can save the customer hundreds of dollars in two years time.

There are cell phone shopping discount opportunities that many people are not aware of. With busy work schedules and family commitments, business people do not have the time to keep track of all of the cell phone plans that are offered on the cell phone market for the phone they use everyday. This may be why cell phone companies prefer to lock customers into a 2-year rate plan before changes can be made.

Through the Internet, people can find a large amount of cell phone shopping discount opportunities. These discounts are offered by auction retailers that have off-brand cell phones that are offered at low prices and will afford many years of service. Some of the cell phones at the auction houses have been used before, and are being sold by people who are locked into a two-year plan with no hope of cancellation. When you purchase a phone with a service plan in place, you are saving yourself the phone activation fees perhaps, or can use the minutes that have been loaded onto the cell phone.

When you are looking for cell phone shopping discount opportunities, you can check the local newspapers, resale shops, or flea markets to find good deals on quality cell phones that are taken from overstocked merchants who are unable to sell as many cell phones that they have in their current inventories. They are willing to take drastic discounts to reduce their overhead, and will pass these savings on to the consumer through another retailer that purchased them in a bulk lot auction.

Finding The Cellular Phone Deal That Works For You

Michelle Bery asked:

We have all - at one time or another - had experience with trying to decode and understand a phone bill. Extra charges, hidden costs, and unexplained overages have all confounded us periodically. But when landline phones were all we had to worry about, our frustration was at least confined. But now, with the advent and significant use of cell phones, we have another bill to decipher. And when you are not thoroughly educated about the plan you are paying for, you can easily be overwhelmed by the billing process. Paying affordable prices for cell phone usage - and understanding all that that entails - means finding a cellular phone deal you can live with and pay for with confidence.

Luckily, as cell phone companies compete for our business, the availability of a cellular phone deal that works for our particular situation can be found around every corner. The hard work comes with the research required to locate and compare each deal as it pertains to your particular usage. But if you are persistent and aggressive in learning the ins and outs of each plan, then you will have the clear advantage in finding the cellular phone deal that will ultimately save you money.

First and foremost, you should ensure a few general rules, standard to most of the industry. The cellular phone deal that is common to most cell phone companies is the provision of free calling in their particular network; so in a call to or from anyone who uses a cell phone within the same network there should be no charge. Additionally, most cell phone companies will offer free calling to particular friends and family as a part of the cellular phone deal; you need only specify which particular numbers you are in contact with on a regular basis.

But the most important part of a cellular phone deal - in the effort to save you the most amount of money possible - is the use of minutes. You must be absolutely clear about what kind of cell phone user you are in order to choose the cellular phone deal that will work to your advantage. You will pay for minutes either way so if you use your cell phone a great deal you should look into the higher minute plans rather than underestimating your usage and paying overages. Most cell phone companies will offer a rollover plan of some sort as well, wherein you can take any minutes that are unused during one month and take them with you into the next month.

Also be sure to understand the taxes and additional charges that could be incurred monthly as a part of your cellular phone deal. These miscellaneous charges can really add up over a period of time.

Ultimately, the cellular phone deal that will best work for you is the one that you understand completely. No one likes to feel that they are being taken advantage of; understand all the charges on your cell phone bill so that you can know for sure that you are getting the cellular phone deal that makes the most sense.

Used Cell Phones: Does it Even Matter?

April 9, 2008 by Leticia · Leave a Comment

Brad Robinson asked:

A lost cell phone is in no way in comparison to a lost tooth. Because with a missing cell phone, you can substitute it with a real one right away. Except possibly for the phone “body number”, you can even secure the same and exact unit that was lost.

And rightly so, there are lots of good reasons to purchasing a used cell phone. Let’s talk about convenience first. Buying a pre owned cell phone will save you from hassles and sickening formalities of signing a contract with cell phone companies. Most of us have been there and there’s no prize for the discomforting feeling of having to read again all those pages of warranties and rules just because your phone was lost or stolen. Activating pre owned cell phones only takes just minutes and can be done right at the comfort of your own sofa.

For example: If you are a subscriber to Cingular, T-Mobile, or ATT, simply remove your SIM card from underneath your cell phone battery (in most cases, this is where you will find the SIM), and re-insert it into your newly bought pre owned cell phone, and then the problem’s fixed! Yes, you heard it right, there’s no need to worry much over losing a phone because the solution is as easy as simply going down to your local cell phone providers’ place of business and asking them for a new SIM card. For Verizon, Metro PCS, and the like, where SIM card is of no use, you only have to dial *611 on your newly acquired pre owned cell phone, and a customer representative from your local phone provider will provision your phone with your existing account over the air.

And then we talk about practicality. The financial hassles of purchasing a new cell phone (indeed, new ones can be very expensive!) is apparently an irrelevant topic considering that you can often have a pre owned cell phone from the neighboring shops. You will save considerable amount of money with used cell phone than if you buy a new one. Plus, the great thing is, pre owned cell phone works just as well. To illustrate my point: A new Blackberry 8700 can go as high as $299, a used Blackberry 8700 can be obtained for only $129. Why dispose that huge amount of money? Buy the savings instead for better-tasting oatmeal!

Well, I already talked about two huge reasons (convenience and practicality) and they basically cover everything why you should buy a pre owned cell phone, but they are too concentrated on you and you. I have to kick one in that’s for the whole community: purchasing used cell phones will do something good for the environment. Cell phones are made up of various toxic chemicals that include lead and mercury. Over time, these harmful chemicals will leak out, and once in the ground, will eventually enter our water system. That only spells a bad future for us, a horrible future for our children. And what’s even sadder to realize is that many, if not most of these discarded cell phones, are far from being useless.

We might be at the mercy of our dear dentist if we lost a tooth, but I hope I made it clear here that we should not feel the same way if we lost a cell phone. Now we comprehend what to do and how simple it is to solve the dilemma on “lost cell phone”.

How to Choose the Best Cell Phone Plan & Deal

March 31, 2008 by Leticia · Leave a Comment

cell phone
Nicholas Tan asked:

Cell phone has evolved to be one of the most important part of life. Most businesses require their officers to have a cell phone. Even individuals need cell phones in going about their daily lives. This is why acquiring this important gadget require intelligence to avoid inappropriate expense. Finding the most reasonable cell phone plan is one requirement in choosing cell phones intelligently. Because of the very large number of network services in this country, it may help you to research and assess their offers before deciding on a cell phone plan.

Before you decide to buy a cell phone, you may want to decide first whether you want a prepaid cell phone service or a traditional cell phone plan. If you decide on a prepaid cell phone service, then no problem, no credit check, you just need to pay outright and immediately you have your phone. Some cell phone companies even offer free cellular phone unit when you acquire a prepaid cell phone service from them. However, when you want a cell phone plan, you may need to choose from a by minute charging or by the second charging. Both charging process have positive and negative points. You need to assess your usage frequency and requirements before you decide on a cell phone plan. You may research on the performance like if they have enough towers to reach you wherever you are. There are different cell phone plans for family and national use. There are also cell phone plans for regional use. All of these have their own benefits although there are also their disadvantages. For prepaid cell phone plans, there are cell phone units that may not have the capability for this connection.

Other cell phone plans like family plans, this is advantageous for family use and small businesses. There is free access for emergencies. In addition, for family plans, it is cheaper to call the other cell phones included in one billing. There are also discounts for the airtime usage of family members using this cell phone plan. For national plans, this cell phone plan includes free long-distance charges. There are no roaming charges for this cell phone plan and it is another advantage. For regional use, this cell phone plan may require you to pay long-distance charges but the airtime rates may be cheaper.

Cell phone plans may be beneficial is you can acquire the once that have the benefits you need. The manner of usage is an essential requirement, if you do not need it as much and just for emergencies, prepaid cell phone plan could suit you well than traditional plans where you need to sign a contract with the service provider.

Prepaid cell phone plans are often preferred; however, for travelers the traditional plan with no roaming charges and no long-distance charges might be best.

All of this notwithstanding, in order to make full and effective use of your cell phone, you may want to set some guidelines in your usage. If you want your cell phone for your business, you may need to make sure you turn it off when you need privacy. Being available every time may not do well for you. Reserve sometime for yourself and never allow people to disturb you during this time. If your business partners know they could reach you even late at night and on weekends, they will be annoyed if you suddenly change this behavior. Having a cell phone and being available all the time may not be healthy, thus, you have to be wary not to allow people disturb you when you need to be alone with or without your cell phone.
